Hello Everyone!!! I hope everyone is happy! I don’t have a ton to say this week but I just want to let you all know how much I love you and am grateful for you!
2. Seeing other people in pain makes me cry. This is our investigator, Sister May. She is 15 and is the cutest little human ever. Her sister is a member but her mom won’t let Sister May get baptized. While we were at a training 4 hours away from Sakon Nakon, we got a call from Sister May’s sister saying Sister May was in the hospital. She had a really bad infection from a bug bite and is going to be there for about a week. We went and visited her and the second we walked in, Sister May started crying and then I started crying. All I wanted to do was switch places with her. I couldn’t stand seeing her in pain. It was an amazing experience though because at the end we asked if we could pray together and their mom, who is against them joining our church and is strictly buddhist, walked up to join our prayer and asked me to bless Sister May that she would get healthy quickly. I’m so grateful her heart is opening.
3. No one is too far gone. Right next to our house is a street full of LA members. The ward members just call them “The Big Family”. They’ve been LA for years and these past few weeks we’ve been trying to get them back to church. So far only one lady’s heart has softened. Her name is Sister Tik ติ็ก (I actually spelled that wrong in Thai because I was too lazy to find the correct letter on the keyboard but none of you would have known if I hadn’t told you haha). Anyway, she’s this sweet old grandma and when we visited her she just started crying. She missed the church but she felt like she was too far gone. The spirit flooded my heart with the knowledge/ability to share the story of the lost sheep. I was practically in tears. I wanted her to understand how much Christ loved her and wanted her to come back. It was such an amazing lesson taught completely by the spirit. Since then she keeps calling all the relatives she lives with “lost sheep”:) It’s so cute:) She even came to church and brought one of her 12 year old grandchildren who gave such a sweet tender prayer after we taught him how to pray. As we find all of these “lost sheep” I can feel myself fulfilling my missionary, as well as life, purpose. We worked with quite a few less active’s this week and while some are a little more heard hearted than others, I know God does not want us to give up on them and that He so desperately wants them to come home. It’s our job as missionaries and members, as instruments in God’s hands, to help guide them back to the fold. The picture above is of one of the grandchildren trying to make the cat smile:) It was so so cute. And no worries, I didn’t take the cat home:) No pets allowed:)
2. On the SAME day my bike broke, keep in mind we had to walk EVERYWHERE all day, I get home, ready to relax, and I toss myself on the bed. A second later we hear a crack and half the bed crashes down.
If you can’t tell I’m laying on a slope. OH and the reason my feet are up? Sunday after a lesson with an investigator, I walk out of the house and my foot is swollen! We bike to the church and a bunch of members (no worries, I have like 5 moms out here in Thailand) start poking my foot and giving me instructions haha. We decided it was from a bug bite. It’s okay now. I think haha. At least it’s not swollen anymore
Real Sister Missionaries trying to fix the bed ourselves….we ended up just calling the landlord and they fixed it this morning
After an amazing member who my companion and I decided must already have a spot in the celestial kingdom took us inviting. Just as we were leaving, the member wanted to get a picture together so we asked a girl about 14 to take our photo for us. Her mom and dad walk over and start talking to us. A few photos and a long conversation later that family became our newest investigators. And they are truly investigators prepared by God.
This is the family haha:) Anyway they couldn’t come to church but they called us Sunday night just to tell us that they had been reading the Book of Mormon and loved it!!! I literally almost screamed when I hung up the phone. I was so proud and excited and happy and grateful. The only problem is, the dad talks SO fast haha. I barely understand slow, baby Thai haha but I know the Lord will help us and the members are super helpful too.
I feel like she’s my sister:) We get along really really well and she pushes me to work harder. I swear I’m not training her. We are just being trained by the Lord together.
Us and a cow. What more could you want?
